YFC Update

Hi ,

We hope you enjoyed the lovely weekend weather and the opportunity to get out and enjoy some fresh air before the wet weather set in.

If you haven't already done so we encourage you to download the CoVID Safe app to help protect you, your family and friends. We also strongly encourage everyone to get the flushot this year and if you are not feeling well to see your doctor, don't wait.

We are staying busy at the centre with some of our kindy families returning last week and we have also included a few new opportunities below.

Active Aging

We may be stuck at home for the time being but that doesn’t mean we can’t be active.
Any increase in activity can be beneficial for physical and mental health and the Australian Government’s physical activity guide for older Australians has some great suggestions for exercises that can be done at home whilst waiting for the kettle to boil or watching TV.

See pages 19 and 20 in this brochure from Australian Government Department of Health and Sports Medicine Australia for simple ideas to incorporate into your day.

May Packs

This year we are celebrating May differently by sending out packs to 100 families and encouraging you to use the pack to connect with those who may not have internet, social media or other ways to connect. For those who do not receive a pack we have a few available for collection from the centre.

This pack has been put together to celebrate Neighbourhood Centre Week and all the activities that normally happen in May. It is an opportunity to take a little time to send messages to friends and family and spend time with your child.

A very big thank you to our volunteers, Ann Gerlach, who put the card kits together and Kylie Young, who put all the packs together!

Mother's Day Gift Basket

Emergency Relief

The Financial Counselling Network has launched an Emergency Relief & Food Access Service in response to the COVID-19 crisis. There are a number of community organisations throughout the state that provide emergency relief to people experiencing financial hardship, in the form of food vouchers, bill payment support and more.

The Access Service may be accessed by free-calling 1800 979 777 between 9am and 5pm Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays), or by emailing erfas@anglicare.wa.org.au
