We have had an amazing start to 2019, it has been wonderful to welcome lots of new members to the centre and also lovely to see so many members returning for another year.

New Year Celebration

A wonderful Chinese New Year celebration was held at the centre on Thursday 7 February. It was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with the Cockburn Chinese Community Association who provided traditional music and dancing. Community members provided decorations, food and traditional items to help us celebrate. We had a fabulous turn out with over 100 people attending in red or traditional clothing to participate in a variety of activities including making chinese lanterns and lion dancing.

This Week!

Dads are encouraged to attend our Saturday Playgroup on this weekend!! All parents and kids 0-6 years are welcome. The session is facilitated by our staff and includes a free sausage sizzle and lots of fun activities. Bookings and Donations appreciated

Coming Up!

Know what to do in an emergency, join our First Aid Demonstration for Parents on Monday 1 April from 11am-1pm. Provided by St John Ambulance this course is designed for parents who would like an introduction or basic refresher on First Aid knowledge related to children and infants. It covers common injuries and illnesses that occur in everyday life. This course combines both theory and practical demonstrations, including the Recovery Position, CPR and Anaphylaxis. Bookings are required the fee is $25/person. Crèche is available for $5/child.

Places Available

Places are available in our Playclub program in Atwell. Playclub is for parents with children 2-4 years. Miss Mandy provides an age appropriate program with mat sessions, craft activities and play opportunities. Playclub is an excellent stepping stone between playgroup and kindy and a great way to meet other families. FREE Come and Try - Monday from 9.30-11am at the Atwell Community Centre, 9 Lombe Gardens, Atwell.

Bookings for Occasional Care are available up to 2 weeks in advance. We are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.30am-3.30pm for children 8wks – 6yrs. We take regular bookings and occasional bookings. Contact the centre 9417 9995 or info@yangebupfamilycentre.org for more information.

Neighbour Day

Let's celebrate Cockburn and each other this Neighbour Day, Sunday 31 March. Partner with a neighbour to host a get together for your neighbours at a local park or your home. Register your event with the City of Cockburn and host your event between 29 – 31 March and receive:

- a $50 celebratory food voucher

- invitation cards for you to put in your neighbours’ mail boxes.
