During May we have been very busy renovating the kitchen, installing the street library and launching Social Toy Boxes in Bibra Lake and Yangebup. We have lots coming up in June and July, check out all the details below!

Kitchen Ready for Action

The kitchen renovation is complete and our wonderful volunteer leadership team celebrated National Volunteer Week with some tasty treats before our Management Committee Meeting. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Josh Wilson MP and the Department of Communities for providing funding for this project. Our new kitchen will help us to provide great programs together with our community!! We have already held a successful Food Sensations cooking program and a Little Chefs program is starting this week. There will be an official launch next term.

Now is also a great time to book your birthday party or event at the centre and take advantage or our wonderful new oven, plenty of indoor space and playground area. Bookings are available Saturday and Sunday and weekdays after 3pm.

Street Library

The Yangebup Street Library is now located outside the centre. Thank you to Connecting Community for Kids and members of our community for supporting this initiative. There has been lots of action with books coming and going. There are also more books inside the centre.

Social Toy Box

Social Toy Box - Radonich Park Beeliar

We have had so much fun launching our Social Toy Boxes in Bibra Lake and Yangebup. The box of toys will remain at the playgrounds for families to enjoy. Our community volunteer will regularly check the toy box and add more toys when needed.

The launch at Radonich Park Beeliar has been postponed due to the weather predicted for this weekend. The new date will be Sunday 16 June 10-11.30am!

Next Week!

Kaya Time

Join us for Kaya Time on Monday 10 June 9.30-11.30am. This is a new group for Aboriginal families and friends to connect. The session includes morning tea and activities for the kids.

Dads are encouraged to attend our Saturday Playgroup on the 15 June. All parents and kids 0-6 years are welcome. The session is facilitated by our staff and includes a free sausage sizzle and lots of fun activities. Bookings and Donations appreciated

Fussy Eaters - Bookings Essential

Our first session of Fussy Eaters was fully booked so we have added another session on Monday 24 June at 11.15am. Join dietician Megan Hardy who will provide tips and tricks to encourage your little ones to form good eating habits. FREE workshop with free creche!

Plastic Free July - Bookings Essential

Book now for our Plastic Free July session on Tuesday 9 July from 9.30-11.30am

Includes;

- how to make fabric twine and use it to make items such as coasters and bowls

- 10 ways to upcycle onion/orange bags

- ideas to reduce single use plastic

- morning tea

- creche available

NAIDOC Week Open Day

Join us for our NAIDOC Week Open Day on Thursday 11 July from 9.30-11.30am. We will celebrate NAIDOC Week with the unveiling of the Community Artwork created with Aunty Jenny and our community in November last year. There will also be free kids activities and bush tucker inspired foods to sample.

Little Stories - Bookings Essential

Little Stories is a 5 week program for children aged 2-4 years.

Wednesdays 24 July - 21 August from 9.30 to 10.15 am

Come along and enjoy stories, songs and creative play. Little Stories encourages a love of reading, stimulates the imagination and develops early literacy and social skills.
Fee $30 for 5 weeks, places are limited. Children 2-4 years with parent or caregiver.

Job Opportunity

Early Childhood Teacher / Educational Leader

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated Early Childhood Teacher / Educational Leader to join our team of amazing staff and families. The position will be permanent part-time (21.5hrs per week). You will be required to work hands-on with the children 3 days per week and the other half day in the office. More information
