What's New

This week we celebrate with many of our programs having Christmas Parties and finishing for the year. We thank you for your continued support and hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. The centre will close on Friday 14 December for three weeks and reopen on Monday 7 January.

New Kitchen Coming Soon!

Our thanks go to our local Federal Member for Fremantle, Josh Wilson MP, for nominating and supporting us to receive $16 000 towards a kitchen upgrade through the Stronger Communities program. It was great to have Josh visit the centre last week and give us the good news.
In addition, we have received a commitment from the Department of Communities to provide a further $15 000 towards the project.
This project will commence in 2019. We are looking forward to an amazing new kitchen that will support our volunteers, community groups and programs provided at the centre.

Supporting 16 Days in WA

Last week we took part in the 16 Days in WA campaign to raise awareness and to help stop violence against women. Thank you to all of our groups for wearing orange last week.

Intergenerational Open Day

The Intergenerational Open Day, held on the 12 November 2018, was a great success with over 150 people attending. As part of WA Seniors Week the Yangebup Family Centre invited grandparents and extended family members to enjoy a diverse range of activities. The event was supported by funding received from COTA.

Aboriginal Artist Netta Knapp provided her talent and guidance to create an artwork that will be placed in the foyer of the centre.

Donations

The Yangebup Family Centre is really excited to be a drop off point for Cooby Cares Christmas Food Drive until 12th December. You’ll find the donation box in the foyer and you can drop your donations off between 9am and 3pm weekdays. It’s a giant box that we’d love to be full to the brim when we give it to Cooby Cares! Check the list of donation items required.

School Holiday Play Session

Join Miss Jo for a Holiday Play Session on Thursday 24 January 9.30-11.30am with lots of water play and fun activities. Suitable for children 0-10 years. Bookings are encouraged.

We are now taking enrolments for Term 1 programs. Please return your form as soon as possible as programs fill quickly.

STEM for Girls

Thanks to funding from the City of Cockburn through the 'Cockburn Creates' initiative and in

partnership with Meerilinga and Engineering for Kids we are providing heavily subsidised Science programs for Girls over the next 6 months!

The January Workshops have filled quickly! We have two free tickets remaining for girls aged 10-14 years with a Health Care Card.

More programs are coming in Term 1 and 2 and the April school holidays.
