On Monday 9 February, we were proud to host a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration, with more than 90 community members attending to share in the Year of the Horse.

We were honoured to welcome Mayor Logan Howlett and his wife Pat, Cr Carol Zhang, Cr Hilda Srhoy and performances from the Cockburn Chinese Community Association (CCCA) Dance Group and Tai Chi Team. Their wonderful performances brought energy, elegance and cultural richness to the celebration, delighting the audience and adding to the festive atmosphere.

The Centre was decorated to create a warm and festive atmosphere for families and friends to gather. Children and adults alike enjoyed filling red envelopes with gold coins, making colourful lanterns, and sharing a delicious spread of food generously contributed by community members. The morning truly felt like a joyful reunion — filled with laughter, connection, and community spirit.

Events like this highlight the strength and diversity of our local community. We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making the morning so special and memorable.

Whether you love sewing, knitting, crochet or any other craft, bring your project to our Craft n Chat and enjoy a friendly space filled with creativity and conversation.

There are no formal lessons, just a chance to share ideas, learn from each other and connect with fellow crafters.

Bring your own supplies, and if you need a sewing machine, you’re welcome to borrow one during the session.

For the one low price of $6.00 you can stay for as little or as long as you wish!
